TO ALL ASA KOREA MEMBERS::
June 25, 2007 was the 57th anniversary of the beginning of the Korean War. Mary & I were invited to attend a church service and dinner by the
Korean-American Assn of Philadelphia. This is an annual event observed to denote the events that took place on June 25, 1950, and to memoralize the
horrors of the war that followed, culminating in the cease fire on July 27, 1953. The bond that exists between these wonderful Korean people and we
Americans is as tight as a drum. I had the opportunity to offer a few remarks and a prayer during the worship service, as I serve also as Chaplain of
Philadelphia Chapter 38, KWVA.
Since July 4th is but a few days away, we will be reminded not only of the deep faith of the Korean people we will share this evening's worship with, but also
of the deep faith of the Founding Fathers who formed the Union that is The United States of America, our "Sweet Land of Liberty".
Much Praise and Thanksgiving to Almighty God is due in both events. One of the best ways I know to extoll our Lord are in the words of the last Psalm in
the Book of Psalms, # 150:
"Praise the Lord! Praise God in His sanctuary; praise Him in His mighty firmament!
Praise Him for His mighty deeds; praise Him according to His exceeding greatness!
Praise Him with trumpet sound; praise Him with the lute and harp! Praise Him with timbrel
and dance; praise Him with strings and pipe!
Praise Him with sounding cymbals; praise Him with loud clashing Cymbals!
Let everything that breathes praise the Lord!"
As you gather with family and friends; with fellow veterans at VFW or Legion Posts; as you perhaps parade or worship together on Independence
Day.............take time to thank God for all you have..."Let everything that breathes praise the Lord!"
God bless you all...............Rev. Charles Knappenberger, Chaplain, ASA Korea Preacherk@aol.com

TO ALL ASA KOREA MEMBERS:
Honor the FLAG of the UNITED STATES of AMERICA..........
OLD GLORY, long may she wave.............!
"This flag which we honor and under which we serve, is the emblem of our unity, our power, our thought and purpose as a nation. It has no other character
than that which we give it from generation to generation." -President Woodrow Wilson, 1917
"This is my COUNTRY, land that I love;
This is my COUNTRY, greatest on earth......
I pledge Thee my allegiance, AMERICA, the Gold........
For, this is my COUNTRY...to have and to hold!"
"Hats off! Along the street there comes,
A blare of bugles, the ruffle of drums;
And loyal hearts are beating high...
Hats off! Our FLAG is passing by...."
Long May She WAVE!!!!!!!!!
FLAG DAY A momentous day for all Americans who believe that thwe United States Supreme Court made a 'good' decision today in upholding the
phrase "One Nation Under God..." in our Pledge of Allegiance to the FLAG of the UNITED STATES of AMERICA. The Lord be Praised!
I am sending as my message for this FLAG DAY, 2004, words I have received from a local newspaper titled, "Dedicated to the Children of America, Kids
Standing Proud." I believe these words are a message for all Americans on this Flag Day...and for all days in our future as "One Nation Under God"
Indivisible....."
"To our beloved country, this is dedicated to you...
We want you to know we understand what it means to be proud of our Red, White and Blue.
RED is for 'Courage' to always believe in our rights,
WHITE is for 'Peace and love' as our country strives to new heights,
BLUE is for 'Strength' that brings us together,
To remind us to stand tall and full of pride forever. Chaplain, Charles "Preacher" Knappenberger .....

TO THE ASA KOREA EMAIL LIST:
Well it will soon be here, that special day to remember again and to thank Almighty God.........that day is, July 27, 2007, fifty-fours years since the cease fire
that stopped the shooting war in Korea....a day many of us remember. I have framed on my office wall a copy of the Pacific Stars and Stripes, Korean Edition,
dated July 28, 1953 with those two-inch banner headlines, "TRUCE SIGNED". I brought this home with me and treasure it still.
As we know that terrible war (not a 'police action') in Korea has taught all generations since 1953 that "FREEDOM IS NOT FREE" - freedom for all people
affected by war comes at a bitter price, and that price is usually paid in blood, sweat, tears, and disaster. On July 27, 2007 I will gather with fellow members of
KWVA Chapter # 38 for a service at the Philadelphia, PA Korean War Memorial. We will lay a wreath in honor of the 605 names etched upon the memorial
representing those KIA from the 5-county greater Philadelphia area. As Chaplain, I will lead the group in prayer and remembrance...and then TAPS will sound
echoing across the vast Penns Landing area near the Delaware River.
For those of us who were in Korea during the war, July 27 has a special significance. Not only is it a day to rejoice in a way, but also a day to recall all the
wonderful buddies from across our land we shared time with - good times and not so good times - friends for a life time. Many of my 'buddies' still share time
with me as members of ASA KOREA. And, thank God, I have found many 'new' friends I hold so dear in ASA KOREA. So take some time on July
27....treasure your memories; contact old and new friends. Encourage others to join with us as ASA KOREA. Plan to attend our 12th annual reunion in
Chicago in October....Get to know what GOOD is!!
God bless America and its Korea Veterans! God bless the people of South Korea who hold our service in their country so precious! God bless the memory of
all those KIA, POW and MIA! May we continue to honor and remember them not only on June 25 or July 27, but everytime we pray and meet for reunion.
I sincerely believe in all my heart that Almighty God in His mercy and love has brought us together for a purpose: to do unto others as we would have others do
unto us.....to love our neighbor as we love ourselves...to bless the Lord with all our soul....this is the Law and the Gospel. God be with you all.
