| The Death of Dalton Harper...... Our Beloved Co-founder and Treasurer for over ten years, Dalton Harper died on Decemberer 31, 2005. His funeral was on January 4th, 2006. It is difficult to find words of solace when one is in shock over sad news. We who have worked with Dalton for these many years know what a valuable asset he was to ASA Korea, and what a loving and devoted Friend,Husband, Father and grandfather he has been in his life. Dalton was ' one of a kind'. If you wish to send condolences to his family, please send to Mrs Phyllis Harper, 110 Forest Circle, Palmyra, PA 17078-9745. It is at times like this that we seek solace and find it in Holy scripture: From Jeremiah 14, " You are in our midst, O Lord, and you have named us yours; do not forsake us, O Lord our God. From John's Gospel, Chapter 14, the words of Jesus, "Peace is My Parting gift to you, my own Peace, such as the world cannot give. Set your troubled hearts at rest, and banish your fears" And the comforting words from the Christ from Matthew 11, " come to Me all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest...." And again, from Jesus, Matthew 28, "LO, Iam with you always, even to the end of the age." We will miss you, Dalton You are special and we love you. The Poet Edward Gloeggler, wrote: "Over the hill lies a beautiful valley, but you have to climb the hill to see it." Dalton has climbed that hill, and shares that valley in the beauty of the Lord who has redeeed him and welcomes him to eternal life. When we were Baptized into Christ Jesus, we were baptized into His death. We were buried therefore with Him by Baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might live a new life, For if we have been united in a death like His, we shall certanly be united with Him in a Resurrection like His. May God in His mery comfort Phyllis and her family. Rest in peace, dear Dalton. You have earned the crown of eternal Life. Rev. "Preacher" Knappenberger, Chaplain, ASA Korea |

| Today I received the following "Thank You" from Dalton's son, Jeff Harper. This was addressed to ASA Korea, c/o me: "Rev. Knappenberger and all of the ASA Family, I wanted to take a brief moment to thank all of you for the extremely generous donation you all made to my Mom and Dad's Church in Campbelltown. My Mom is quite proud of the amount that has accumulated in Dad's Memorial Fund and this has become another source of comfort to her. My Dad absolutely loved all of his "duties" and experiences he had while organizing and working with the ASA Korea Reunions. He mentioned to me on many ocasions how much he loved all of his "Army Buddies" and how amazed he was that you were all able to get back together after almost 50 years and reconnect as if you were never apart. One of his goals this past fall was to make it to just one more reunion, unfortunately he will not be able to be there in person, but I am convinced he will be looking out for the entire organization from above and will most definitely be there in spirit next fall when you all get together again. Sincerely, Jeff Harper: |
