A July 4th Message from The Chaplain
Eleven score and six years ago on July 4th, 1776 our ONE NATION UNDER GOD The United States of America, began as stated in The Declaration of Independence "in the name and by the authority of the good people of these colonies, solemnly publish and declare that these United Colonies are, and of right ought to be, free and independent States;....".

Remember the song of our youth:  "This is my country, land of my birth; This is my country, greatest on earth.  I pledge thee my allegiance, America, the bold.  For this is my country, to have and to hold......"

On this July 4th, in the year of our Lord, 2002, as veterans and citizens along with our families, we need to pray and be thankful for what our forefathers "brought forth upon this continent a new nation, conceived in liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal...."Abe Lincoln.

Let us never forget the Word of God, "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord."  (Psalms 33:12)

There is no finer prayer that can be offered at this time than "Washington's Prayer For The Nation".
"Almighty God, we make our earnest prayer that Thou wilt keep the United States in Thy holy protection; that Thou wilt incline the hearts of the citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to government and entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another and for their fellow citizens of the United States at large.  And, finally, that Thou wilt most graciously be pleased to dispose of us all to do justice, to love mercy, and to demean ourselves with that charity, humility, and pacific temper of mind which were the characteristics of the Divine Author of our blessed religion, and without an humble imitation of whose example in these things we can never hope to be a happy nation.  Grant our supplications, we beseech Thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord Amen."

Fly your Stars and Strips with pride and devotion.  God bless you and yours!  God bless America!  I'm proud to be an American!
